| FESTIVAL: INTRODUCTION |
The International Short Film Festival Leuven was founded in 1995 and celebrated its tenth anniversary in 2004.
The ISFFL annually presents a wide selection of high quality short films, short live-action as well as short animated films, short documentaries, short experimental films and music videos.
The Flemish and European short film competition are central to the festival, which has been functioning as a Flemish and International film talent scouting for many years. Every year, approximately 8 jury- and audience prizes are awarded. What is more, the ISFFL presents a series of retrospective programs and specials every year. |
 |
Half of the festival's program consists of Flemish short films, the other half of foreign – mainly European – shorts. The festival is very well integrated in the European festival world, and welcomes many foreign guests (directors, distributors, sales agents and colleague organisators) every year.
Since 2004, the organization of school screenings (during the festival as well as throughout the year) has become a part of the festival's work.
The ISFFL has been organized at the STUK arts centre since 2002 and usually offers around 85 screenings, spread over a week of festival. In 2005 the festival broke another record when it welcomed almost 7.000 visitors.
The ISFFL is supported by the Flemish Community, the Province of Flemish-Brabant and the city of Leuven. |
